Consulting Modules
Career Enhancement and Skill Building Module
This workshop is designed to look more closely at the current roles employees play within their work organizations. We will carefully evaluate the match between their interests, skills, and abilities and the demands required of their positions. Through the use of formal assessment(s), we will assist them with generating insights about themselves and ways that they can function more optimally within their jobs and within their work culture. It is understood that employees look for ways to grow within their positions, make shifts into new positions within their organizations, or even look to opportunities outside their current work environment. This workshop will lay the groundwork for considering "next steps" through systematically analyzing current positions, opportunities for growth and change, and ways to initiate that change. Participants should come away from the workshop with a better understanding of the "fit" between themselves and many occupational roles and a "next steps" action plan for increasing their career satisfaction.
Self-Awareness in Organizations Module: Attentional Channels
Executives and employees perform better when they are able to accurately self-access their skills, qualities and attributes and make well informed adjustments and modifications to themselves as needed. Employees need to learn the art of non-defensive self exploration and be open to constructive feedback. For this to occur, it is important that employees be able to explore professional strengths and growth areas in the non-judgmental, open environment that is created by our facilitators. This workshop will focus on developing the ability to make accurate self-appraisals about individual work performance and the quality of work relationships. It will also emphasize the multiple ways that employees attend to their environment and ultimately make contributions through the use of the TAIS (The Attentional and Interpersonal Style Inventory). Employees will be able to better understand their natural modes of functioning as workers as well as their areas for growth and development.
Interpersonal Style/Communication Skills Module
Regardless of whether you perform an executive, managerial, technical or support function, you need to communicate and relate to your fellow employees in order to reach goals and produce results. Organizations that conduct business are increasingly aware that content knowledge (e.g. computers, technical) is only one small component of human capital. The softer skills (communication and interpersonal skills) are at the top of the list for corporate recruiters searching for talented professionals. They realize that these skills are more difficult to develop, yet they are instrumental in maintaining functional relationships with coworkers, clients, and business partners. In part two of the TAIS interpretation, the consultants will use your personal results and implement tangible, real life examples to highlight your interpersonal style. By developing an in-depth understanding of your interpersonal style, you can learn to be more effective in the following areas: giving one on one feedback, leading teams, providing employee evaluations, conducting meetings, and understanding your supervisor.
Character Essentials in the Workplace Module
As career consulting professionals, we know firsthand from corporate recruiters that honesty/integrity, motivation/initiative and other character traits have a dramatic impact on a person's ability to be hired. Gone undetected, dishonest and unethical behavior as well as other suspect character traits can translate into high costs for organizations in lost money, time, consumer confidence and ultimately reputation. As career development consultants, we will address the far reaching impact of promoting an "organization of character." Real life vignettes will be created so that participants are pulled into the complexities of character based decisions. The workshop will draw heavily on Dr. Orndorff's "10 Character Essentials" which he has identified through his own research with corporate executives and spelled out in his two books on character education. Character essentials are timeless, yet executives agree there is a renewed energy around bringing a higher level of consciousness to good character in the workplace.
